Georgettes and chiffons require extra caution and care. Wash them in cold water with a mild detergent. When wearing these Indian sarees, avoid using pins, or wrapping them very tightly around you, as this can cause damage. Georgette and Chiffon Indian sarees with embroidered or zari borders shouldn’t be hung for a very long time since they tear quite easily.
When it comes to cotton sarees, make sure that you wash them at home, preferably by hand. Keep them separate from other clothes being washed, as colours like navy blue, turquoise, and black tend to bleed. Don't leave them soaking in soapy water for too long, and always dry sarees in the shade. Also, don't forget to starch them properly.
Organza and tissue Indian sarees should not be hung for a long time, since this can cause them to become shapeless. Like silk sarees, they need to be wrapped in muslin cloth. Refold these Indian sarees to prevent tears from appearing in the creases, and make sure to always have them dry cleaned.
